How to Upcycle Your Glass Bottles

We all know the saying REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. There is a reason for the order. First, we should primarily focus on reducing our waste entirely by refusing to buy new. When we are unable to refuse to buy new (like when we need our local booch!), we should focus on finding creative and useful ways to REUSE. Here are some of our favorite ideas at Scobi Kombucha!

Soap or Lotion Dispenser

You can purchase a stainless steel pump online or reuse a pump from a bottle you already own for a stylish soap or lotion dispenser. Double-check the neck size of your bottle to make sure you get the right pump size!

Flower Vase

Our amber bottles are perfect for a flower vase.  Just insert a few stems of real or fake flowers into your glass bottle. To add something a little extra, you can tie a ribbon or some twine around the bottle or take a paint pen to write some special words on the side.

Electric Lamp

This project is a little bit more involved but only takes a few simple tools. Check out this link for a step-by-step look at how to turn your glass bottles/growlers into a fun lamp!

Plant Propagation

Create new plants from older ones with this guide. We tried out this idea with some gorgeous succulents!

Centerpiece

Our beautiful amber bottles make the perfect centerpiece. Add a few to the center of a table. Dress up with flowers, ribbons, tealights or whatever seems fitting to you. Placing fairy lights inside the bottle makes for the perfect nighttime decoration.

If you are unable to find a useful way to reuse your Scobi bottles, we would be happy to take them off your hands with our bottle drive. We will begin the bottle drive as soon as we can ensure the safety of everyone involved.
